Weird things always happen in our apartment building.

We decided to do some ghost hunting of our own and we think we captured something. We recorded audio only and none of these noises were heard during recording. Only after we listened to the playback did we here these strange voices and noises...

All of these except the last one were recorded in the apartment building's basement. The noises outside were recorded in the alley behind the building.

This all happened around 2am.

One of the most violent and horriffic EVP's ever recorded.

Central New York Ghost Hunters (CNYGH) captured this EVP while investigating an old hotel built in the early 1800's in upstate New York.(hotel name confidential per owner's request)

The group's founder, Stacey Jones, and her crew of several members chose to stay overnight is the hotel. Many of the crew members who were questioned said it was the most active paranormal experience that they've come across. The next day, at around 3 pm, the crew sat on the staircase of the hotel with a digital voice recorder, intending to capture some EVP. What they recorded would be one of the lengthiest and most terrifying EVP's ever captured..

The group's founder describes what she heard on the recording:

"You can [faintly] hear the three females talking throughout the recording. You will hear a female – the family member – say, 'Hello, baby,' and another long conversation. Those are all human voices. But what sounds like a struggle or attack is going on as well.

"The male [voice] you hear was not present at the hotel. You will hear a cuckoo clock (which was not present) a ticking of a hall clock (which was there); you will hear what sounds like the microphone being moved (which was not touched) and then the sound becomes clearer.

"You will hear a creaking door and slamming of the door, which is real. Then you will hear a [unknown] woman say, 'Get off me,' and what sounds like the woman being attacked. The struggle continues for awhile, and during the EVP you can hear some of my investigators' conversations. After interviewing my investigators, they said they went and sat on the stairs of this hotel, because they heard from an above floor, what sounded like footsteps and conversations, not what you hear on this recording. When the noises stop, you hear the investigators participate in a lulled conversation. They stated that they started to talk when the noises stopped. In their conversation, you will hear a male voice say, 'Help me' several times."

"Ghost" Tv Shows

There are a few tv shows out there that are dedicated to exploring the paranormal. Most of these shows follow teams of paranormal investigators as they explore some of the most haunted places in the United States. I've decided to talk about a few of these shows today, and give you my opinion on them.

First off, probably the most "well known" of these shows is Sci-Fi's "Ghost Hunters". The team on this show, from what I've seen, really just walk around and hope for something to happen. They spend most of their time trying to debunk what they've found or what people have said happen in the place of the haunting. I think I dislike this show for that very reason. There's no fun in that. Sure, that noise you heard could very well be the old pipes creaking, or the ground settling, but..what if it's NOT? I know there are a lot of people out there who love and respect this show, but honestly, it's boring and no fun for me.

This next one is quite the opposite. The Travel Channel's "Most Haunted" is another of the "ghost" shows I refuse to watch, because the team over-reacts SO much that you can't even understand what they're saying, or what's going on. That being said, I really don't have much to say about this one, because I couldn't bring myself to watch more than one episode.

Next, we have A&E's "Paranormal State". I personally haven't ever watched this show, but some members of my family swear it is the "scariest thing they have ever seen". Judging from the commercials, it looks like another show I just wouldn't be interested in. I don't like when people take their "jobs" too seriously.

Finally, I would like to introduce you to The Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures". This show is personally my favorite, for a few different reasons. It's three people. Three. As opposed to.. a whole entire team. They get locked down in the locations over night, and are not able to get out until someone lets them out (or until they jump out a third story window...) Another thing I really like about this particular show is that these guys provoke whatever malicious spirits might be inside with them. They don't try to debunk anything. It's basically a "We went here, saw this, recorded this, and here is your proof. Take it however you'd like"- and that, I like. Lastly, this show is just plain entertaining. You'd think with three grown men, one of them who looks like he could break someone in half without any effort, they'd be pretty tough. Wrong. These guys get SCARED. And when they get scared, they scream like little girls. If nothing else, watch it for a laugh.

In closing, I would like to say that yes, I realize these are all television shows, and so should you. Anything that is on tv can't be 100% real. There are ratings, views, and other things that have to be taken into account when the shows are being made. I'm sure there is some sort of fakery going on in every single one of these shows, but I'd still say go with Ghost Adventures. It seems the most raw. And, as I said, it's hands down the most entertaining.

This one scares the crap out of me...

The Definiton of "Ghost"

According to Wikipedia:

A ghost has been defined as the disembodied spirit or soul of a deceased person, although in popular usage the term refers only to the apparition of such a person. Often described as insubstantial and partly transparent, ghosts are reported to haunt particular locations or people that they were associated with in life or at time of death.

Phantom armies, ghost-animals, ghost trains and phantom ships have also been reported.

A poll conducted in 2003 showed that more than half of adults in the United States believe in ghosts and/or demons.

Ghosts or similar paranormal entities appear in film, theater, and literature;legends and myths, and some religions.

The English word ghost continues Old English gást, hypothetical Common Germanic *gaisto-z. It is common to West Germanic, but lacking in North and East Germanic (the equivalent word in Gothic is ahma, Old Norse has andi m., önd f.). The pre-Germanic form would have been *ghoizdo-z, apparently from a root denoting "fury, anger", cognate to Sanskrit hedas "anger", reflected in Old Norse geisa "to rage". The Germanic word is recorded as masculine only, but likely continues a neuter s-stem. The original meaning of the Germanic word would thus have been an animating principle of the mind, in particular capable of excitation and fury (compare óðr). In Germanic paganism, "Germanic Mercury", and the later Odin, was at the same time the conductor of the dead and the "lord of fury" leading the Wild Hunt.

Besides denoting the human spirit or soul, both of the living and the deceased, the Old English word is used as a synonym of Latin spiritus also in the meaning of "breath, blast" from the earliest (9th century) attestations. It could also denote any good or evil spirit, i.e. angels and demons; the Anglo-Saxon gospel refers to the demonic possession of Matthew 12:43 as se unclæna gast. Also from the Old English period, the word could denote the spirit of God, viz. the "Holy Ghost". The now prevailing sense of "the soul of a deceased person, spoken of as appearing in a visible form" emerges in Middle English (14th century) only.

The synonym spook is a Dutch loanword, akin to Low German spôk (of uncertain etymology); it entered the English language via the United States in the 19th century.

Alternate words in modern usage include spectre (from Latin spectrum), the Scottish wraith (of obscure origin), phantom (via French ultimately from Greek phantasma, compare fantasy) and apparition. The term shade in classical mythology translates Greek σκιά, or Latin umbra, in reference to the notion of spirits in the Greek underworld.

A revenant is a deceased person returning from the dead to haunt the living, either as a disembodied ghost or alternatively as an animated ("undead") corpse.

The term poltergeist is a German word, literally a "noisy ghost", for a spirit said to manifest itself by invisibly moving and influencing objects.

Also related is the concept of a fetch, the visible ghost or spirit of a person yet alive, a notion widespread in shamanistic cultures. The word "ghost" may also refer to any spirit or demon.
